A 25-year-old man died after a driver struck him while walking near York Boulevard and Old Guelph Road in Hamilton on Monday evening.
Emergency responders arrived at the scene shortly before 9 p.m. and discovered the pedestrian with severe, life-threatening injuries. He passed away in hospital shortly after.
Hamilton police’s collision reconstruction unit launched an investigation into the fatal incident. Officers closed York Boulevard between Old Guelph Road and Plains Road West for several hours to conduct a thorough examination of the area.
