A masked man wielding what appeared to be a gun stormed into a Subway sandwich shop in Salford, terrifying staff during a brief robbery. The incident unfolded at the Ellesmere Retail Park in Walkden on Saturday evening, prompting a swift police response.
Details of the Robbery
Greater Manchester Police (GMP) reports indicate the suspect arrived in a small black vehicle between 8:25 p.m. and 8:35 p.m. He entered the premises, brandished the weapon, and demanded cash before fleeing with a small amount. No injuries were reported, but the event has heightened local concerns.
Investigators describe the attack as extremely rare for the area and are conducting a thorough inquiry. To bolster security, patrols have been increased around the retail park in the days following the robbery.
Suspect Description and CCTV Release
The suspect stands approximately 6 feet tall and was dressed in a black hooded jacket, black trousers, trainers, and a mask obscuring his face. GMP has released a CCTV image to aid in identifying him and urges the public to review any relevant footage.

Detective Inspector Louise Haslam of Swinton CID emphasized the rarity of such incidents in Greater Manchester. “While this will be worrying and concerning, this type of incident is extremely rare,” she stated. “We will have extra officers in the area today and the next couple of days as we continue our investigation and provide a reassuring presence.
