“The brand new mayor, doubtlessly, of New York goes to freeze the rents and all people eats free of charge,” Faber mentioned mockingly. “So that they don’t have to fret.”

CNBC’s Jim Cramer joked that rich folks might get shot in New York Metropolis if Zohran Mamdani turns into the following mayor.

“However how ’bout the wealthy?” Cramer mentioned. “Do they get shot?”

“Sure, they get taken away,” Faber replied.

“Is that this Lenin?” Cramer requested. “Not John Lennon.”

Cramer and co-host David Faber, who co-anchor the community’s “Squawk on the Avenue,” reacted on Wednesday to Mamdani’s shock victory in Tuesday’s Democratic mayoral main.

“That’s an excellent level,” Cramer mentioned. “They’ll go to Jersey, the place I’m.”

Mamdani’s platform — and his rhetoric — have drawn a torrent of criticism from throughout the political spectrum.

Critics argue his proposals — together with a lease freeze for two.4 million stabilized residences, development of city-owned reasonably priced houses, fare-free buses, common free childcare and city-run grocery shops — are economically unfeasible and would require large tax will increase that might drive away companies and funding.
