Coleen Rooney’s friends have labeled her husband Wayne an ‘idiot’ following his appearance partying with two unidentified women at a pre-BRIT Awards event over the weekend. The 39-year-old mother of four was spotted running errands in Cheshire on Monday without her wedding ring.
Wayne’s Late-Night Outing
Wayne, 40, attended the gathering in Manchester ahead of the music awards. Witnesses described him as looking disheveled, struggling to keep his trousers up, while joking and drinking with the women until the early hours. Photographs show him chatting and drinking with the pair before departing separately around 3:25 a.m. One onlooker noted, ‘What would his wife Coleen think?’ adding that Wayne ‘didn’t seem to be in a great place’ but appeared to be having a laugh.
Coleen’s Public Appearance
Coleen, dressed in a white padded coat and dark brown activewear, looked downcast during her outing. This sighting comes as she gears up for a major milestone: launching her first clothing range with Primark. She plans to host a celebration event in London’s Mayfair on Thursday evening.
Friends’ Frustrations
One close friend expressed irritation, stating: ‘Coleen has worked so hard on this Primark range, it’s massive for her. So for Wayne to act like such an idiot just days before her big moment is irritating. Coleen will always stick by Wayne. But for her mates, it’s upsetting to see Wayne acting this way because it takes the spotlight from her.’
Family Background and Past Challenges
The couple, married since 2008, share sons Kai, 16, Klay, 12, Kit, 10, and Cass, 8. They have navigated multiple scandals, including Wayne’s teenage visits to prostitutes in 2004, which made headlines after his move to Manchester United. Coleen stood by him without public comment at the time.
In a 2023 documentary on Wayne’s career, Coleen opened up about the infidelity and drinking issues. She credited her parents, Colette and Tony, for support, saying: ‘When you’re making those decisions you’ve got to focus on what you want and not other people… My mum and dad always give me a positive outlook on things. There’s nothing that we can’t deal with… And we have. We’re not the lovey-dovey type anyway, we like to have a laugh and we work well together.’
Last year, Wayne acknowledged his wife’s role in his recovery, stating she ‘saved’ him from alcoholism by helping him curb his drinking.
