Security forces in Jammu and Kashmir have neutralized six terrorists over the past 20 days through targeted counter-terror operations, delivering a major setback to terror groups in the region. The Indian Army’s White Knight Corps highlighted these successes in Operations KIYA and Trashi-I in Basantgarh and Kishtwar.
Key Eliminations in Recent Encounters
On February 4, two terrorists fell in an encounter in the Jophar Forest area of Basantgarh during Operation KIYA. Troops from the Counter-Insurgency Force (CIF) Delta, coordinated with Jammu and Kashmir Police and CRPF, established contact and prevented escapes, showcasing precise tactics and inter-agency teamwork.
The same day, forces eliminated one terrorist in the Dichhar area of Kishtwar under Operation Trashi-I after re-establishing contact around 5:45 pm.
Earlier on Sunday, three additional terrorists were neutralized in ongoing cordon and search operations in Kishtwar, also part of Operation Trashi-I. The White Knight Corps confirmed recovery of the remains and weapons from the site, vowing continued pursuit with no sanctuary for threats to stability.
Operation Trashi-I Details
Launched in January, Operation Trashi-I targets forested and mountainous zones in Kishtwar, including Chatroo, Sonnar, Dolgam, and Dichhar. Actionable intelligence from Jammu and Kashmir Police, Intelligence Bureau, and Army sources prompted joint launches to track and eliminate militants.
Contacts re-established around 11:00 am in rugged terrain led to two more neutralizations, with recovery of two AK-47 rifles and other arms. The White Knight Corps noted seamless coordination among CIF Delta, police, and CRPF.
Additional Security Actions
Troops also foiled an infiltration bid along the Line of Control in the Sunderbani sector, where alert Indian Army personnel thwarted the attempt. A substantial cache of arms and ammunition was seized across all operations.
Search operations persist in areas like Chatroo to ensure no threats remain, maintaining firm control over the region.
