Take a bow, Kirk Ferentz. The legendary Iowa football coach now has the most wins in Big Ten history.
Ferentz notched his 206th victory at Iowa on Saturday night as the Hawkeyes defeated the University of Massachusetts, 47-7. He had a chance to reach this mark last Saturday, but Iowa fell short in a 16-13 loss to cross-state rival Iowa State. However, that loss allowed Ferentz to achieve history in front of the Hawkeyes’ home crowd.
“It’s special to be in Kinnick [Stadium],” Ferentz stated. “At all times has been. Means so much to me, personally.”
Ferentz surpassed legendary Ohio State coach Woody Hayes, who gained 205 video games over 28 seasons from 1951 to 1978.
“The entire idea,” Ferentz defined, “was simply do the most effective we are able to at no matter you are doing and issues have labored out. I discovered an incredible place and been round plenty of nice folks.”
Mark Gronowski threw for 2 touchdowns and ran for one more, and Kaden Wetjen scored two touchdowns as Iowa defeated Massachusetts 47-7 on Saturday, making Kirk Ferentz the Large Ten’s all-time winningest coach.

Gronowski, who transferred from South Dakota State after final season, accomplished landing passes of 20 and three yards to Seth Anderson on Iowa’s first two possessions of the sport. Massachusetts junior cornerback TJ Magee needed to be taken from the sphere on a cart after being injured on Wetjen’s punt return for a landing.
Magee was blocked by Iowa’s Kael Kolarik on the return and fell right into a teammate. Tv replays confirmed Magee’s head snapped again on the second hit.
The sport was delayed for a number of minutes as Magee was tended to by the coaching staffs of the Minutemen and Iowa. He was immobilized on a again board and was taken to College of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics, throughout the road from Kinnick Stadium, for additional analysis. Massachusetts officers stated in a press release that Magee was “alert and transferring his extremities.”
Iowa will begin its Large Ten schedule subsequent Friday when it travels to play at Rutgers (3-0) on Friday.
