Jackie Shroff turns 69 today, embracing a natural approach to staying fit and vibrant in his later years. Known for promoting environmental awareness, he often gifts saplings at events to encourage a deeper connection with nature.
A Natural Path to Wellness
Unlike many celebrities with complex gym routines, Shroff maintains his energy through simple, earth-inspired habits rooted in organic living and traditional remedies. As he celebrates his birthday, insights into his daily morning ritual reveal how he prioritizes immunity, digestion, and overall vitality.
The Power-Packed Morning Concoction
Shroff begins each day with a herbal infusion rather than coffee, drawing from everyday Indian plants to support his health. He steeps betel leaves, known as paan, in hot water to kickstart his immunity. Mango leaves add essential nutrients, while parijat leaves, despite their bitter taste, offer significant benefits. For enhanced brain function and gut health, he includes baby brahmi leaves, which he calls exceptionally effective for the stomach.
In a recent interview, Shroff explained, “Paan (betel leaf), other leaves, medicinal plants – these are the most essential. I add betel leaf to hot water and drink in the morning. It is good for immunity. Then I have mango leaf, which is also very beneficial. Parijat leaves water is bitter but is equally beneficial for you. If you read about these leaves and what they do, you will blow your head off. Then I have these baby brahmi leaves that are lethal. They are good for your tummy.”
Spices and Sattu for Sustained Energy
Beyond leaves, Shroff incorporates warming spices like cinnamon, clove, and cardamom into warm water for added health perks. On film sets, he opts for sattu, a roasted gram flour staple from Bihar, instead of commercial supplements. This nutrient-dense option provides lasting strength and adapts well to any weather.
He shared, “There are a whole bunch of spices that I like to eat – cinnamon, clove, cardamom. You can add these to coffee or make warm water with them. When I come for shoots or work, I drink sattu. It gives me strength. It is from Bihar. Four small bottles of these are filled with nutrition for me.”
Sattu stands out as a flexible superfood, ideal for maintaining vitality year-round.
