WWE star Logan Paul shared a sarcastic apology video on social media after his antics during the Fanatics Flag Football Classic, drawing ire from fans and former NFL players.
Pre-Game Feud and On-Field Incidents
Leading up to the exhibition match, Paul traded barbs with Super Bowl champion Tom Brady, who described the wrestler’s training efforts as ‘cute.’ During the relocated event, Paul drew repeated penalties for misunderstanding rules and provocative behavior. In one notable moment, he snatched sunglasses from Team USA player Housh Doucette’s face and tossed them to the ground following a touchdown loss. Paul also pressured Brady throughout the game and sacked Philadelphia Eagles quarterback Jalen Hurts.
The Sarcastic Apology Video
The day after the game, Paul posted a video addressing his actions in mock remorse. “I’d like to take this opportunity to apologize for some of my actions in yesterday’s flag football game,” he began.
He first targeted Doucette: “I want to apologize to the United States flag football team for taking [Doucette’s] glasses off of his face and throwing them at the ground. That happened because after he scored a touchdown, he kind of got in my grill and said to me, ‘Welcome to flag football,’ which upset me because it’s comments like that that I just can’t tolerate.”
Paul continued with Hurts: “I’d like to apologize to Jalen Hurts for sacking you and later deflecting a pass that then got intercepted by my team, allowing us to score on the very next possession. If you get traded or your contract gets cut down, now we know why, and it’s probably pretty embarrassing, so I am sorry.”
Addressing Brady, he said: “I’d like to apologize to Tom Brady for applying so much pressure on you play after play after play that had you literally fearing for your life. I understand you’re older, it’s not like you could go anywhere, and you got frustrated, which is why you threw the ball at me. And I want you to know that I forgive you for that, because that’s what real men do.”
Paul concluded: “And lastly, I want to apologize to everyone that said that I was not a great athlete, because you all look stupid as hell right now. Thank you.”
Social Media Backlash
The video sparked widespread criticism online. Former NFL star Asante Samuel commented, “Just say you wish you were a football player.” Others mocked Paul’s style, with one user stating, “One thing the Paul brothers gon do is create fake beef w/ a legend.”
Additional reactions included, “Your barber also needs to say sorry,” and “Played a flag football game with NFL players who are barely going half speed and are only there for the check and now think he’s #TheS**t.” Some called it “rage bait,” with comments like, “Logan Paul is a genuinely pathetic person… biggest man baby I’ve ever seen,” and “He’s trying so hard to create beef with far superior athletes who barely even know who he is. It’s cringe and comical all at once.”
