A 19-year-old woman lost her life after being shot in the face at point-blank range during broad daylight in Mumbai’s Shivaji Nagar neighborhood on Tuesday afternoon.
Details of the Fatal Shooting
The victim, identified as Shifa Shaikh, was attacked near the Furqania Majid area. She had left her home following a call from another local woman. An argument quickly escalated between Shifa and the suspect over an unspecified dispute, leading to the shooting.
Police confirm the bullet entered through her cheek and lodged in her skull, causing fatal injuries. The firearm was discharged from extremely close range, as verified by medical examination.
Local residents rushed the severely injured teenager to Rajawadi Hospital in a bid to save her. Despite immediate medical efforts, Shifa succumbed to her wounds en route to the facility and was declared dead upon arrival.
Rapid Police Action Leads to Arrests
Investigators acted swiftly, leveraging CCTV footage and initial leads to set up a trap. Within 12 hours of the incident, authorities apprehended two suspects: a 25-year-old woman and a 23-year-old man linked to the murder.
