Details of the Incident
On December 6, police responded to The Park Steakhouse in Park Ridge, where they discovered a man on the ground suffering from a severe head injury. The victim received hospital treatment and was released after several days.
Investigators determined that Nicholas Dispoto, 31, a Montvale Police Department officer, inflicted the primary blows causing the most serious harm. Dispoto concealed himself inside the steakhouse upon police arrival.
Park Ridge Officer Jason R. Vradenburg, 29, allegedly provided false information to investigators to shield Dispoto from detection.
Charges Filed
Dispoto faces charges of aggravated assault, endangering an injured victim, obstructing the administration of law, and hindering apprehension.
Vradenburg is charged with endangering an injured victim, tampering with public records, and hindering apprehension.
Additionally, Martina L. McGee, 29, of Hillsdale, and Thomas M. Schiavone, 59, of St. James City, Florida, each face fourth-degree charges of hindering apprehension.
Suspensions Imposed
Both Dispoto and Vradenburg have been suspended from their duties. Park Ridge Police Chief Joseph Rampolla confirmed that Dispoto’s suspension is without pay.
Authorities have not released details on the events leading to the initial assault.
