A brush fireplace ignited Friday night close to Jurupa Valley, prompting evacuation orders within the close by communities of Jurupa Hills and Sunnyslope.
Dubbed the Pyrite fireplace, it was reported at 5:19 p.m. as a 15-acre vegetation fireplace burning in “gentle flashy fuels” close to Pyrite Road and Granite Hills Drive, in keeping with the California Division of Forestry and Hearth Safety Riverside Unit.
The blaze had grown to 200 acres by 8 p.m., main authorities to broaden evacuation warnings as hand crews and a firefighting helicopter labored to fight the flames. A map of affected areas may be seen right here.
