Stellantis‘ Ram model is canceling plans to develop a full-size electrical Ram 1500 pickup truck, citing slowing demand for electrical autos.

“As demand for full-size battery electrical vans slows in North America, Stellantis is reassessing its product technique and can discontinue improvement of a full-size BEV pickup,” an organization spokesperson stated Friday in an announcement, utilizing the trade acronym for battery electrical autos.

Stellantis had already delayed plans twice for the truck, which was initially anticipated to go on sale by the tip of 2024.

Ram stated Friday it could nonetheless plan to launch an extended-range electrical truck, which is provided with an electrical generator and a fuel engine. That truck is predicted to return out subsequent 12 months.

The corporate stated it could rename that extended-range truck from “Ramcharger” to the “Ram 1500 REV.”
