Samsung Electronics unveils a bold strategy to convert all its global manufacturing operations into AI-driven factories by 2030. This plan integrates artificial intelligence throughout the production value chain, covering material logistics, manufacturing processes, quality checks, and outbound shipping to create fully autonomous production systems.
Core Elements of AI Integration
The transformation features digital twin simulations across manufacturing workflows and dedicated AI agents focused on quality control, production management, and logistics. These tools enable data-driven insights and preemptive validations, boosting quality, efficiency, and output at facilities worldwide.
AI will also enhance environmental, health, and safety protocols through real-time hazard detection and automated prevention measures, elevating workplace safety standards globally.
Agentic AI and Robotics Deployment
Central to the initiative is Agentic AI, initially featured in the Galaxy S26 series, which autonomously plans, executes, and refines decisions to meet goals. Samsung extends this mobile-derived technology to manufacturing for greater on-site independence.
Specialized AI agents will streamline production flows, predictive maintenance, repairs, and logistics, delivering uniform high standards across all sites. To advance from traditional automation to full autonomy, the company introduces humanoid and task-specific robots, including operating robots for line tasks and facility oversight, logistics robots for material transport, assembly robots for precise work, and environmental safety robots with digital twins for monitoring and risk mitigation in challenging areas.
“The next phase of manufacturing innovation lies in building autonomous environments where AI truly understands operational contexts in real time and independently executes optimal decisions,” stated YoungSoo Lee, Executive Vice President and Head of Global Technology Research at Samsung Electronics. “We are committed to leading the transformation toward AI-powered global manufacturing innovation.”
Industry Showcases and Governance
Samsung will demonstrate its industrial AI approach and digital twin innovations at MWC 2026 in Barcelona, highlighting improvements in safety and efficiency.
At the 10th anniversary Samsung Mobile Business Summit, an exclusive event for key B2B partners, the company will present its governance framework for scaling AI autonomy. This includes built-in safety protocols from the design phase to ensure reliable deployment for customers and collaborators across sectors.
