SAN ANTONIO — The Orlando Magic reached San Antonio late Saturday afternoon, preparing for their Sunday showdown with the San Antonio Spurs at Frost Bank Center. Meanwhile, the Spurs remained grounded in Charlotte due to a severe winter storm, forcing the team to spend the night in North Carolina.
Updated Game Schedule
The league has rescheduled the tip-off for Sunday’s matchup to 7 p.m. ET (6 p.m. CT), a three-hour delay from the original 4 p.m. ET (3 p.m. CT) start. This adjustment accommodates the Spurs’ travel disruptions caused by heavy snowfall.
On Saturday, the Spurs lost to the Charlotte Hornets 111-106 in a road game advanced from 3 p.m. ET to noon ET to avoid worsening weather. A National Weather Service winter storm warning for Charlotte and nearby regions forecasted 1 to 7 inches of snow, with wind gusts reaching 35 mph. The Spurs waited nearly two hours on the tarmac before canceling their departure.
Season Series Context
The Spurs hold a 32-16 record, while the Magic stand at 25-22. In their first regular-season encounter on December 3 at Kia Center in Orlando, San Antonio edged out Orlando 114-112. As teams from different conferences, they meet only twice this season.
Following Sunday’s game, the Magic travel to face Oklahoma City on Tuesday night before returning home to host Brooklyn on Thursday.
