One of three men charged in connection with extortion-related shootings in Surrey, B.C., remains at large after evading authorities. Jagdeep Singh, 24, faces charges alongside two others for two separate incidents at a home in the 17000-block of 32 Avenue last November.
Charges and Incident Details
Jagdeep Singh, Avtar Singh, 22, and Sandeep Singh, 28—all foreign nationals—each face one count of unlawfully discharging a firearm and one count of extortion. The shootings occurred within a five-day period, with no injuries reported. Police blocked off the intersection at 168 Street and 32 Avenue following the second incident on November 12, 2025.
Avtar Singh and Sandeep Singh remain in custody, while Jagdeep Singh’s whereabouts are unknown. Authorities confirm he is also wanted on a Canada-wide immigration warrant issued by the Canada Border Services Agency.
Prior Arrest and Firearm Link
Investigators from Parkland RCMP in Alberta arrested Jagdeep Singh on November 17, 2025, while he traveled through Red Deer. Officers released him pending further inquiry after seizing a firearm during a search incidental to the arrest.
Forensic testing at the Provincial Firearms Lab linked the weapon to seven unrelated shootings across Canada. Further probes connected Singh to extortions targeting the South Asian community and additional shootings at a residence in Parkland County’s Spring Meadow Estate, west of Edmonton.
Rising Extortion Concerns in Surrey
The B.C. provincial extortion task force announced the charges amid a surge in cases. Officials note the violence primarily affects the South Asian community and business owners in the Lower Mainland.
The Surrey Police Service reports over 50 extortion investigations launched since the start of the year, including at least 34 cases in January alone. Community members express growing fear and frustration over the ongoing threat despite increased policing efforts.
