Three Indian Army soldiers sustained injuries during an intense anti-terrorist operation in Dolgam village, Kishtwar district, Jammu and Kashmir, on Saturday. Security forces have trapped two to three Jaish-e-Mohammad (JeM) terrorists within a tight cordon, officials confirmed.
Details of the Ongoing Operation
The encounter erupted early Saturday morning when joint teams of the Army, Jammu and Kashmir Police, and Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) re-established contact with the militants. This development marks a continuation of Operation TRASHI-I, launched to neutralize terror threats in the region.
Authorities report that the operation remains active, with intermittent exchanges of fire between the forces and the trapped terrorists. A cordon-and-search strategy has been deployed to secure the area and prevent escapes.
Background and Prior Incidents
The current clash follows a previous engagement on January 18, 2026, in the Sonnar area near Chatroo, Kishtwar. That operation, also under Operation TRASHI-I, resulted in the death of one Army paratrooper during initial firefights. The soldier, Havildar Gajendra Singh from the Special Forces, lost his life in the Singpura area on January 19.
In a tribute, the General Officer Commanding (GOC) of the White Knight Corps and all ranks honored Havildar Singh’s sacrifice. “We pay solemn tribute to Havildar Gajendra Singh, who made the supreme sacrifice while gallantly executing a counter-terrorism operation,” the statement read, expressing solidarity with his family.
Joint forces persisted with searches after the January 19 incident and, after 12 days, located the militants in Dolgam village, leading to the renewed confrontation.
Security Measures in Place
As a precaution, mobile internet services were suspended across the broader Kishtwar region, including the encounter site, starting Friday. The Nagrota-based White Knight Corps shared an update on its official social media platform: “During the ongoing joint Operation TRASHI-I, contact with terrorists was re-established in the early hours of January 31, 2026, in the general area of Dolgam by troops of White Knight Corps, Jammu and Kashmir Police, and CRPF. A cordon has been established, and operations are in progress.”
