U.S. President Donald Trump vows to prevent the opening of the Gordie Howe Bridge, set to serve as the latest border crossing linking Windsor, Ontario, and Detroit, Michigan.
In a statement posted on Monday, Trump declared, “I will not allow this bridge to open until the United States is fully compensated for everything we have given them, and also, importantly, Canada treats the United States with the Fairness and Respect that we deserve.”
The bridge represents a key infrastructure project aimed at enhancing trade and travel between the two nations. Officials have yet to provide additional details on the president’s position.
