Senior policymakers, trade consultants, and stakeholders change insights on scaling up Sustainable Aviation Fuels (SAF) manufacturing, enabling coverage frameworks, and strengthening cross-regional partnerships.
This was a part of a high-level session on SAF collectively convened by the European Union and the United Arab Emirates as a part of the Dubai Airshow 2025 Sustainability Programme.
The session, highlighting the rising momentum for worldwide cooperation on decarbonising the aviation sector, was organised by the Delegation of the European Union to the UAE underneath the EU Inexperienced Diplomacy Weeks initiative, in collaboration with the UAE Ministry of Power and Infrastructure (MoEI) and the EU-Funded EU-GCC Cooperation on Inexperienced Transition Mission.
Discussions targeted on aligning methods to speed up the usage of SAF, which is a vital step towards attaining net-zero emissions in aviation.
It highlighted the complementarity between the EU’s RefuelEU Aviation Regulation, which mandates a minimal 2 per cent SAF mix by 2025 rising to 70 per cent by 2050, and the UAE’s Web Zero by 2050 Strategic Initiative and Nationwide Hydrogen Technique, which prioritise clear fuels as a part of a diversified and sustainable power combine.
Lucie Berger, Ambassador of the European Union to the UAE, commented: “The European Union and the UAE share a standard ambition to steer world efforts in sustainable aviation. By working collectively, we will unlock innovation, scale up clear gasoline manufacturing, and create the partnerships wanted to realize local weather neutrality.”
