The group found the burials close to the Puemape Temple Complicated on the northwestern coast of Peru in 2024 and excavation work continued in 2025, based on Tantaleán. However archaeologists know little about who the sacrificed individuals had been. “Probably, they had been individuals who lived in the identical space, though we even have the speculation that they may have come from the neighboring valley,” Tantaleán stated.

Evaluation of the skeletons is ongoing, and the group plans to conduct research, together with DNA testing, to be taught concerning the individuals’s identities. The group can also be analyzing ceramics, animals and crops that had been discovered within the temple advanced.

The group’s analysis was supported by the College of South Florida, with a group led by archaeologist Charles Stanish.
