This month, the Office for Product Safety and Standards (OPSS) updates its recall list with urgent alerts for celebrity perfumes, children’s toys, air fryers, beauty appliances, and more. These products pose risks from unsafe chemicals, asbestos traces, fire hazards, or failure to meet UK safety standards. Consumers must stop using them immediately and follow disposal or refund instructions.
Rihanna Perfumes at Savers
Three Rihanna perfumes sold at Savers Health and Beauty carry a serious chemical risk. They contain banned substances butylphenyl methylpropional (BMHCA/lilial) and/or hydroxyisohexyl 3-cyclohexene carboxaldehyde. BMHCA can harm the reproductive system, affect unborn children, and cause skin irritation.
Owners should stop use right away and return the products to the retailer for a full refund.
Tower Air Fryers
Several Tower air fryers, available at Sainsbury’s, Lidl, Robert Dyas, B&M, Poundland, Tesco, and the Tower website, risk overheating and fire. They fail to comply with the Electrical Equipment (Safety) Regulations 2016.
Unplug the devices immediately. Contact the retailer or manufacturer for next steps.
Sand-Filled Toys and Craft Kits
Stretchy sand-filled toys sold at Matalan, Hobbycraft, The Entertainer, Tesco, and other stores may contain asbestos. Affected items include the Addo Play Out to Impress Creative Candles kit (item code: 318-19180-B) and Paw Patrol Bumper Craft Collection (item code: 320-14145-N). Addo Play Limited and Hobbycraft have withdrawn these from sale.
Keep products away from children. If sand remains packaged, seal it in a double-bagged heavy-duty plastic bag, label it, and store securely. For used sand, clean areas with wet cloths while wearing gloves and a mask to prevent dust. Double-bag all waste and dispose in household trash or return to the retailer for a refund.
Electric Boot Warmer on TikTok Shop
A white electric boot warmer, marketed as Portable Quick-dry Shoe Dryer (model X1, PSD 2603-0007), sold on TikTok Shop, presents a fire risk.
Stop using it immediately and contact the seller for a refund.
Cloud Nine Travel Hair Dryer
The Cloud Nine XDM 3600 Travel Dryer risks overheating and fire. This black foldable model with gold/rose gold handle (barcodes: 5056593901724, 5056593901816; batch codes: UK-DRYER-BLCK-GWP-V1, UK-DRYER-BLCK-GWP-V2) came free with eligible purchases.
Cease use and return to Cloud Nine for a voucher. If return is not possible, dispose safely with proof of purchase.
