Pullman, Wash. — Washington State forward Emmanuel Ugbo faces a season-ending suspension amid a court-ordered protection stemming from a domestic dispute.
Suspension Details
Coach David Riley confirmed that Ugbo has not played or practiced with the Cougars since his suspension on Jan. 28. The decision keeps him sidelined for the remainder of the season.
“As an institution, we believe that’s the best course of action,” Riley stated.
Background on the Incident
A Washington State women’s volleyball player accused Ugbo of stalking and harassment following the end of their relationship. Last week, a Whitman County judge issued a full protection order in her favor.
The suspension took effect during Washington State’s home game on Jan. 31, soon after she sought a temporary protection order.
Player Profile
The 6-foot-8, 245-pound forward from the Netherlands averaged 6.7 points and 3.5 rebounds across 18 minutes per game this season. He previously suited up for Boise State.
