WhatsApp introduces a new spoiler feature in its beta versions, allowing users to conceal message content until recipients choose to reveal it.
Spoiler Formatting Integrates with Existing Tools
The spoiler option now appears alongside bold, italic, and strikethrough formats. When applied, it obscures the selected text or words behind a gray bar that users must tap to uncover.
Users activate this by surrounding content with double pipes, such as ||hidden text||, or through the formatting menu, offering flexibility without always opening the pop-up.
Upcoming Availability Across Platforms
Currently live in WhatsApp’s Android and iOS beta builds, the feature signals a near-term rollout to all users.
