Yair Netanyahu’s protection assertion argues that Ya’alon delayed the lawsuit for 5 years, submitting it solely after Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, his father, sued Ya’alon.

Yair Netanyahu filed an announcement this week in his protection towards a defamation lawsuit introduced towards him by former IDF chief of workers and protection minister Moshe Ya’alon.

Within the assertion, Yair Netanyahu argues that Ya’alon delayed the lawsuit for 5 years, submitting it solely after Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, his father, initiated his personal defamation lawsuit towards Ya’alon.

Yair Netanyahu described the lawsuit as “a harsh and ugly act typical of prison organizations, the place the prison makes an attempt to hurt the youngsters of his adversary to affect them.”

Ya’alon filed the lawsuit in April, citing tweets from 2020 through which Netanyahu wrote to Ya’alon: “Give your month-to-month pension, price tens of 1000’s of shekels, funded by taxpayers, and go to Abarbanel.”

This tweet was one among a number of that led to Yair Netanyahu being sued for defamation in a case filed this week on the Tel Aviv Magistrates’ Court docket, which seeks 318,000 shekels in damages. The plaintiff within the case is Ya’alon.

Yair claims lawsuit was ‘intentionally delayed’

In his assertion, Yair Netanyahu calls the lawsuit “vexatious and harassing, basically flawed, and intentionally delayed.”

He provides that “if the lawsuit had any benefit, it might have been filed on the time of the publication in 2020, not now, alongside the protection assertion in a case the place the daddy of the defendant is suing the plaintiff right here. The timing is ugly and paying homage to the habits of violent prison organizations that hurt the youngsters of their adversaries.”
