The Indian Navy positions several warships near the Persian Gulf to monitor India-bound merchant vessels closely amid escalating regional tensions.
Operation Sankalp Ensures Safe Passage
Under Operation Sankalp, naval vessels maintain vigilant surveillance in the Strait of Hormuz region. This ensures the secure transit of cargo ships through vital maritime corridors. A warship stationed off the Oman coast tracks vessels heading toward India.
Two Indian-flagged LPG tankers, Shivalik and Nanda Devi, operated by the Shipping Corporation of India, have successfully navigated the Strait of Hormuz and proceed toward India. Another tanker, Jag Prakash, loaded with gasoline from Oman bound for Africa, has cleared the area east of the strait.
These deployments underscore India’s commitment to protecting key trade routes and the safety of seafarers in the region.
