Bhojpur police in Bihar have arrested three young men within 24 hours of the murder of a 16-year-old intermediate student, whose body was discovered in a water-filled pit.
Investigation Reveals Motive
The Station House Officer of Nawada Police Station stated during a press conference on Saturday that initial probes point to a love triangle and personal grudge as the trigger for the crime.
The suspects, identified as Badal Kumar, 19; Adarsh Kumar, 19; and Anish Kumar, 19, face charges in the killing of Sunny Kumar Singh, 16, son of Upendra Kumar Singh from Ekawana village in Ward-9 under the Barhara police station jurisdiction.
Discovery of the Body
Authorities located Sunny’s body, bearing multiple injuries, near Piprahiya bridge in the Muffasil police station area on the city’s outskirts. The remains were transported to Sadar Hospital for postmortem examination.
Investigators determined that Sunny’s cousin maintained a romantic involvement with a woman who was also linked to Badal Kumar. Upon discovering this through social media, Sunny voiced his disapproval and confronted the woman, sparking animosity. Officials claim the woman then urged Badal to commit the act.
Timeline of Events
Sunny departed home around 10 a.m. on Friday for coaching classes. En route back, he contacted his elder brother, Mandeep, to report an abduction by individuals on a bike. His phone soon went silent.
Concerned family members launched a search and filed a report at Nawada police station, suspecting Badal’s role in the disappearance.
Acting on the complaint, officers detained Badal Kumar late Friday evening. Under questioning, he admitted to the offense, enabling police to retrieve Sunny’s body from the pit.
Subsequent interrogations implicated Adarsh and Anish in the abduction and slaying, leading to their capture on Saturday.
Police continue their probe, anticipating additional arrests as the case unfolds.
