U.S. President Donald Trump on Wednesday signed a proclamation ordering 50 per cent tariffs on sure copper imports, citing nationwide safety, the White Home stated.
The proclamation imposes a 50 per cent tariff on semi-finished copper merchandise and copper-intensive spinoff merchandise as of August 1, based on a reality sheet launched by the White Home.

The tariffs will exclude copper scrap and copper enter supplies similar to copper ores, concentrates, mattes, cathodes, and anodes, the assertion stated.
The measure got here after a U.S. investigation underneath Part 232, which U.S. President Donald Trump ordered in February.
Together with tariffs, the order requires steps to help the home copper trade, together with requiring 25 per cent of high-quality scrap produced within the U.S. to even be offered inside the nation.
