Authorities say a would-be plane thief noticed his plans finish abruptly after he slammed a stolen aircraft right into a hangar at a Southern California airport.

Ceffareno Michael Logan, 37, was arrested Thursday on suspicion of making an attempt to steal a Cessna 172, a small plane, which was getting used to coach flight college students at Van Nuys Airport. Based on the Los Angeles Airport Police, Logan entered the grounds of the L.A. Flying Academy alongside Balboa Boulevard round 5 a.m.

He was in a position to entry the aircraft, flip it on and try an escape, authorities stated. It was not instantly clear whether or not Logan was a flight pupil on the academy.

Earlier than the craft may take off, Logan allegedly slammed the aircraft head-on right into a hangar wall. The proprietor of the flight college instructed ABC7 that the plane’s nostril and wing had been broken within the incident.

It was unclear Thursday night whether or not anybody had been damage within the incident.

Logan was taken to the Van Nuys Jail round 10:30 a.m. and booked on suspicion of felony housebreaking, officers stated. His bail is about at $150,000, based on reserving information.

The FBI’s Los Angeles workplace confirmed to The Occasions that brokers helped airport police with the investigation.

The aircraft that was crashed was getting used to coach these making an attempt to acquire a industrial or personal pilot’s license, based on the flight college.

The flight academy didn’t instantly reply to a request for remark.
