In a recent address in Srinagar, Jammu and Kashmir, EFSAS Director Junaid Qureshi highlighted Pakistan’s ongoing efforts to disrupt regional stability by portraying local Kashmiris as responsible for terrorist activities. Qureshi pointed to a recent incident in Delhi as an example of how such narratives aim to obscure Pakistan’s direct role in supporting terrorism, especially amid growing international scrutiny.
Pakistan’s Use of Proxies for Deniability
Qureshi explained that Pakistan employs proxies to create a layer of plausible deniability while disseminating misleading information on international platforms. This approach allows the country to avoid accountability for its actions, he noted, as global bodies continue to condemn its sponsorship of terror networks.
Evolving Tactics and Future Risks
Looking ahead, Qureshi cautioned that these strategies will likely adapt over time. He warned that Pakistan could intensify its exploitation of vulnerable populations, including through illicit drug operations, to further shift blame and sow discord in Kashmir. Such moves, according to Qureshi, threaten to prolong instability and hinder peace initiatives in the region.
