Opting for a tiny home often involves trade-offs, but the Natural Luxe stands out by offering an expansive feel without major compromises. This single-story design features an open layout that includes a generous kitchen and living space, plus a dedicated office area.
Design and Dimensions
The Natural Luxe, created by New Zealand-based South Base Homes and inspired by their Abel model, spans 48 square meters (516 square feet). It measures 12 meters (39 feet) in length and 4 meters (13 feet) in width, positioning it as a relatively sizable option even among larger North American tiny homes. Constructed with engineered wood and steel, it includes an outdoor timber deck for added appeal. As a non-towable structure, it requires a permanent site installation.
Interior Layout and Features
Entry to the home occurs from the deck through double glass doors into an L-shaped kitchen. This area impresses with its size for a tiny home, equipped with a double sink, dishwasher, full-size fridge/freezer, oven, propane cooktop, and abundant cabinetry that incorporates a pantry.
Adjacent to the kitchen, the living room provides a well-balanced space featuring a large sofa, coffee table, and versatile seating arrangements ideal for hosting guests—a feature uncommon in compact dwellings. A wall-mounted mini-split air-conditioning unit ensures year-round comfort.
Office and Utility Spaces
On the kitchen’s opposite side from the living area sits the home office, a compact yet functional room that accommodates a desk and chair. It doubles effectively as storage or a secondary bedroom with a single bed or bunks. Nearby, a dedicated nook houses a washer and dryer.
Bathroom and Bedroom
Further inside, a corridor leads to the bathroom, which boasts a modern floating vanity sink, flushing toilet, and glass-enclosed shower for a clean, efficient design.
The bedroom, located at the far end from the entrance, benefits from the single-floor plan with ample headroom. It fits a double bed and includes a built-in wardrobe for storage needs.
Pricing and Availability
As a showcase model derived from the Abel design, the Natural Luxe starts at NZD 230,000 (approximately US$137,000), with costs varying based on selected options.
