Bengaluru: Authorities report the tragic deaths of four young migrant workers from Assam, discovered in their rented shed in E. Muthsandra village, Hoskote taluk, early Saturday morning. Initial probes point to suffocation from carbon monoxide poisoning, triggered by an active stove and gas cylinder in a poorly ventilated room.

Victim Details and Discovery

The victims, identified as Jayant Chinty, Nirendranath Tide, Doctor Tide, and Dhananjay Tide, ranged in age from 20 to 22. They worked as loading and unloading laborers at a nearby Coca-Cola warehouse. The incident unfolded around 12:30 a.m. when the workers missed their shift. Concerned colleagues approached the shed, found the door locked from inside, and received no response. After forcing entry, they discovered the four men unresponsive.

Police Investigation

Sulibele police arrived promptly and launched a preliminary inquiry. Evidence suggests the group had been cooking late Friday night and sealed all windows and doors to combat the evening chill. “The shed was completely airtight,” an investigating officer explained. “We believe the cooking gas caused carbon monoxide buildup. Being odorless and colorless, it led to the victims losing consciousness during sleep and ultimately suffocating.”

The bodies were transported to a local government hospital for post-mortem examinations. Sulibele police have filed a case of unnatural death and continue to investigate the circumstances surrounding the fatalities.
