Juventus Pursue Everton Forward Beto

Juventus have initiated discussions regarding a potential transfer for Everton striker Beto as they seek to bolster their attacking options before the winter window closes on Monday. The Italian club views the 28-year-old as a viable target amid their priority to secure a new center-forward.

Everton, however, show reluctance to allow Beto’s departure at this late stage without securing a suitable replacement. The Portuguese-born Guinea-Bissau international remains one of only two senior strikers in the squad, alongside Thierno Barry, making any move challenging for the Merseyside club.

Shift from Previous Target

Juventus initially explored a deal for Crystal Palace’s Jean-Philippe Mateta, engaging in talks with the French international’s representatives. The Serie A side aimed for a loan arrangement with an option or obligation to buy at season’s end but declined to meet Palace’s £35 million valuation.

This pivot has directed attention toward Beto, who joined Everton in 2023 for £25.8 million from Udinese. Despite his contributions, goals have proven elusive for the forward during his time in England.

Beto’s Form and Recent Impact

Across three seasons with Everton, Beto has struggled to consistently find the net in the Premier League, yet to reach double figures in top-flight goals. His debut campaign yielded three Premier League strikes among five total goals, followed by eight league goals from ten overall last term.

This season, Beto has netted four times in all competitions, including three in the Premier League. His latest effort came in a dramatic 1-1 draw at Brighton, where he scored in the seventh minute of stoppage time to salvage a point for the visitors.

Everton manager David Moyes expressed optimism about Beto’s potential resurgence after the match. “I’m really pleased for Beto because it’s hard to convey how dedicated he is as a worker,” Moyes stated. “He’s doing everything possible to improve his form, and goals are his lifeline. Once he scores, it can shift his momentum. Last year, around this time, he embarked on an excellent scoring streak under me. I hope this goal reignites that confidence.”

Everton’s Incoming Plans

With Beto likely to remain at Goodison Park, Everton are actively pursuing reinforcements. The club plans to intensify efforts to sign Chelsea winger Tyrique George, aiming to add attacking depth to their roster before the deadline.
