Dreamliner Temporarily Withdrawn After Mid-Flight Safety Alert
An Air India Boeing 787 Dreamliner (registration VT-ANX) has been temporarily removed from service following a concerning technical issue reported during a London-Bengaluru flight. The aircraft landed safely at Bengaluru International Airport at 11:54 AM local time Monday after departing London Heathrow at 9:19 PM Sunday.
In-Flight Technical Anomaly Detected
Flight crew members documented abnormal behavior in the left engine’s fuel control switch during the journey. Aviation safety analysts indicate the critical switch failed to maintain its locked position in the RUN setting on two separate occasions, unexpectedly moving toward the CUTOFF position. Industry experts confirm such malfunctions could potentially trigger unintended engine shutdowns during flight operations.
Immediate Safety Response Initiated
Air India confirmed the aircraft has been grounded pending comprehensive technical evaluation. “We’ve immediately engaged the original equipment manufacturer for thorough inspections and are collaborating fully with aviation regulators,” an airline representative stated. The Directorate General of Civil Aviation has launched an official investigation into the incident.
Manufacturer Consultation Underway
Boeing technical specialists have been formally notified about the malfunction and are expected to participate in the diagnostic process. Aviation authorities emphasize this proactive grounding demonstrates compliance with international safety protocols. Air India officials reiterated that passenger and crew safety remains their paramount operational priority, stating, “We maintain zero tolerance for technical irregularities and implement stringent precautionary measures when potential issues emerge.”
