Velotric Discover M Delivers Effortless Hill-Climbing Power
Velotric launches the Discover M, a commuter e-bike equipped with a proprietary 500-W Velo-Core mid-drive motor that generates 100 Nm of torque. Mounted in a low-step triple-butted alloy frame, the motor peaks at 960 watts of power at the pedals, providing pedal assist up to 20 mph (32 km/h) by default. Riders can switch to unlock 28-mph (45 km/h) assist in permitted areas.
The system combines torque and cadence sensing for optimal performance. A throttle option enables up to 70 miles (112 km) per charge from the removable 801.6-Wh UL-certified downtube battery. Pedal-assist range reaches 95 miles (152 km) in the lowest of four modes. An additional auto-adjust mode uses the bike’s 6-axis IMU to boost power on inclines.
Key Features and Components
The chain-driven e-bike includes 9-speed Shimano CUES gearing, Tektro hydraulic disc brakes with 180-mm rotors and motor cutoff, and 27.5-inch alloy wheels fitted with puncture-resistant Kenda tires featuring tan sidewalls. An air-suspension fork with 80 mm travel pairs with a suspension seatpost to handle rough terrain.
A 500-lumen headlight illuminates paths ahead, while a braking taillight with turn signals enhances visibility. Integrated Apple Find My and Android Find Hub tracking, NFC card unlock via the 3.5-inch high-brightness color display, and USB-C charging for devices add convenience. The MIK HD-compatible rear cargo rack supports 66 lb (30 kg), with a total capacity of 440 lb (200 kg) including rider and cargo.
Discover 3 Offers Hub-Drive Versatility
The Discover 3, a hub-drive counterpart, provides 75 Nm of torque, 1,100-watt peak power, and 750-W continuous output. A one-touch switch toggles between Class 1, 2, and 3 modes, with a smart tuning system that saves rider preferences.
Its 730-Wh UL-certified battery delivers up to 80 miles (128 km) in pedal-assist at the lowest of five modes or 65 miles on throttle alone. Equipped with 8-speed Shimano gearing, it shares most components with the Discover M.
