Ally Shapiro, daughter of Jill Zarin, voiced strong support for Bad Bunny’s Super Bowl LX halftime performance shortly after her mother criticized it online.
Shapiro Celebrates the Performance
Shapiro shared her enthusiasm on Instagram Story on Monday, February 9, posting a clip from the show. “IMO I loved it [so much],” she wrote. “The cinematography was fantastic. It was like they put a filter over it—it looked like a film.” She continued, “Best halftime show in years. Which honestly is weird to even call it that; it was like a true performance with a storyline and actors, and the direction, lighting—everything was perfect.”
Zarin Fabrics Distances Itself
Zarin Fabrics issued a firm statement on Instagram that evening, distancing the company from Zarin, 62. The post featured her image marked with a large red “X.”
“Zarin Fabrics stands firmly against racism, discrimination, and rhetoric that seeks to exclude or diminish people based on identity, culture, or background,” the company declared. It emphasized that Zarin has not owned or been associated with the business for several years. “Our company operates independently, and any public statements attributed to her are made in a personal capacity and do not reflect our values, beliefs, or operations.”
The statement added, “Zarin Fabrics is built on creativity, collaboration, and respect for the diverse communities that shape art, culture, and expression. We condemn language or viewpoints that undermine those principles, and we remain committed to fostering an inclusive and welcoming environment in everything we do.”
Zarin’s Deleted Video Sparks Debate
The reactions followed Zarin’s now-deleted Instagram video from Sunday, February 8, where she called Bad Bunny’s Super Bowl LX show “the worst halftime show ever.” She stated, “I just don’t think it was appropriate to have it in Spanish.” Zarin added, “I don’t speak Spanish; I would’ve liked to have known the words he was saying. To me, it looked like a political statement because there were literally no white people in the entire thing. I’m not taking a side one way or the other… I think it was an ICE thing. I think that the NFL sold out, and it’s very sad.”
Bravo Stars Respond
Fellow Bravo personalities pushed back against Zarin’s comments. Luann de Lesseps, who will co-star with Zarin on an upcoming E! series, posted an image from the halftime show on Instagram with the caption “Choose Love.”
Andy Cohen offered a pointed reply during Monday’s episode of SiriusXM’s Radio Andy, referencing Zarin and Real Housewives of Beverly Hills alum Taylor Armstrong, who expressed embarrassment for the NFL. “And in terms of Jill, just… I don’t know. You know, call E!” Cohen, 57, quipped. “Two people who are not employed by Bravo anymore.”
Upcoming E! Series
E! recently announced a new 10-episode series, tentatively titled The Golden Life, featuring Zarin, de Lesseps, 60, Kelly Bensimon, Sonja Morgan, and Ramona Singer. Production begins this spring.
