Andhra Pradesh Assembly Deputy Speaker Raghu Rama Krishna Raju expressed a positive view on the brief presence of YSRCP leaders during the session, emphasizing that any MLA’s participation benefits the house.
Deputy Speaker’s Positive Remarks on Attendance
Raju highlighted the value of attendance during the Governor’s address, stating, “Any MLA attending the house is always good. Today was a Governor’s speech, but they stayed only briefly. Full attendance for the entire hour would have been better.”
He added that as Deputy Speaker, he encourages all members to participate fully, likening it to students: “There will be good students and others. I wish every student to be good.”
Raju also discussed a recent interaction with the Confederation of Indian Industry (CII), describing it as productive. “We had a very good discussion and received suggestions on how the government can further support the business environment,” he noted.
Budget Session Opens Amid YSRCP Protest
The Andhra Pradesh Assembly Budget Session commenced with Governor S Abdul Nazeer’s address, disrupted by protests and sloganeering from YSRCP leaders. Former Chief Minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy and party members gathered outside the Assembly to protest.
Governor Criticizes Previous YSRCP Administration
In his address, Governor Nazeer pointed to disruptions under the YSRCP government from 2019 to 2024, including stalled growth, financial strain, institutional damage, law and order breakdown, and setbacks in infrastructure, power, and irrigation sectors.
He stated, “The change in governance in 2019 disrupted this momentum. Systemic failures emerged, leading to total anarchy through misuse of Section 22A.”
Nazeer noted that voters renewed trust in the current National Democratic Alliance government in 2024, granting a strong mandate. “This decisive verdict reflects confidence in Chief Minister Nara Chandrababu Naidu, Deputy Chief Minister Pawan Kalyan, and Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s leadership,” he said.
The Naidu administration has issued seven White Papers to promote transparency, addressing issues in public finances, power sector destruction, and law and order decline from the prior regime.
