Park Chan-wook’s South Korean comedy thriller No Other Choice responds boldly to its Oscar exclusion with a provocative billboard in Los Angeles.

Billboard Takes Aim at Awards Oversight

The film, which follows a man resorting to desperate tactics to secure a coveted job, surprisingly missed a nomination in the Best International Feature Film category. On Tuesday, February 10, distributor Neon unveiled a billboard highlighting the snub.

The display features the movie’s title beneath “For Your Consideration,” a standard awards push phrase. However, an image from a pivotal scene—star Lee Byung-hun hurling a potted plant—covers the “For,” altering it to read “F Your Consideration.” The tagline “A Snub Above The Rest” crowns the ad, driving home the message.

Neon shared the billboard on social media via the film’s account (@noother_choice), captioning it: “Rise above.” The post quickly gained viral traction.

Other Notable Oscar Omissions

No Other Choice joins a list of high-profile snubs. Blockbuster musical sequel Wicked: For Good secured zero nominations this year, despite its predecessor earning 10 last time. Fans voiced outrage online, with one noting that stars Ariana Grande and Cynthia Erivo performed a medley at last year’s ceremony to boost ratings: “So the Oscars use Ariana Grande for clout and attention last year to get their highest ratings of the decade just to pay her dust I’m so sick.”

Paul Mescal also drew surprise for lacking a Best Supporting Actor nod for Hamnet, even as co-star Jessie Buckley landed a Best Actress recognition. Mescal earned BAFTA and Golden Globe nominations for portraying William Shakespeare in the drama.
