Union Minister of Health and Family Welfare, JP Nadda, will unveil two key national initiatives—Strategy for Artificial Intelligence in Healthcare for India (SAHI) and Benchmarking Open Data Platform for Health AI (BODH)—at the India AI Impact Summit held at Bharat Mandapam on Tuesday.

SAHI: Guiding Ethical AI Adoption in Healthcare

SAHI serves as a comprehensive national framework to promote the safe, ethical, evidence-based, and inclusive integration of AI throughout India’s healthcare sector. It offers clear strategies for governance, data management, validation, deployment, and ongoing monitoring of AI tools. The initiative empowers states and healthcare institutions to implement AI solutions responsibly, aligning them with key public health goals.

BODH: Privacy-Focused AI Benchmarking Platform

Developed by the Indian Institute of Technology Kanpur in partnership with the National Health Authority, BODH provides a secure benchmarking platform. It allows for thorough testing of AI models using real-world health data while preserving privacy by avoiding the need to share raw datasets. As a digital public good within the Ayushman Bharat Digital Mission, BODH enhances trust, transparency, and quality in health AI applications.

Advancing India’s Health AI Ecosystem

These initiatives represent a major advancement in establishing a strong, accountable, and competitive health AI landscape in India.

India AI Impact Summit Highlights

The summit marks the first major global AI event hosted in the Global South, attracting over 20 heads of state, 60 ministers, and 500 leading AI experts. Participants include policymakers, tech firms, academics, and industry leaders focused on turning AI innovations into tangible development results under the IndiaAI Mission and Digital India program.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi will deliver the opening address on February 19. Following the expo inauguration, he engaged with exhibitors such as startups and research organizations demonstrating AI uses across various sectors. He was joined by Union Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw and Minister of State Jitin Prasada.

The expansive expo covers 10 arenas spanning more than 70,000 square meters with over 300 pavilions. It features participation from more than 600 startups and anticipates over 250,000 visitors, including international delegates.
