Apple Martin firmly rejects claims that she faced expulsion from school due to bullying. The 21-year-old daughter of Gwyneth Paltrow and Chris Martin posted a screenshot of her Instagram comment on her Stories on February 16, captioning it, “Just a quick little message from myself.”
Direct Denial of Rumors
In her response, Apple addresses the allegation head-on: “Hi! I didn’t wanna respond but this narrative is completely false and has gotten so out of hand. I have never been expelled from any school, especially not for bullying anyone. I completely understand ppl not liking me and that is okay! The internet is a place where ppl can share their opinions. But this rumor is completely untrue, I am not that type of person and anyone who is close to me knows that.”
Upcoming Graduation and Career Shift
Apple prepares to graduate from Vanderbilt University in Nashville this May, where she studies law, history, and society. In a recent interview, she revealed a change in aspirations. “I was in that rebellious, ‘I don’t wanna be like my parents’ type of phase,” she explained regarding earlier law school plans. Now, she pursues acting: “I love dancing and I love acting. My dream is to act.” While she enjoys singing and musical theater, she added, “I don’t wanna be a singer… getting onstage by yourself to sing is so terrifying.”
Previous Defense Amid Social Media Backlash
Apple previously faced accusations of “mean girl” behavior following her debut at the 2024 Le Bal des Débutantes in Paris. A video from the event showed her posing confidently for photos alongside fellow debutante Aliénor Loppin de Montmort, sparking online criticism for allegedly stealing the spotlight. Aliénor defended her in December 2024, stating, “[Apple’s] genuinely the nicest girl ever! She really doesn’t deserve an ounce of what she’s getting. She was the nicest girl ever towards not only me but all the debs!”
Gwyneth Paltrow, 53, Chris Martin, 48, and their son Moses, 19, attended the event. Videos captured a sweet father-daughter dance between Apple and Chris.
Family Dynamics Post-Divorce
Chris and Gwyneth married in December 2003 and announced their “conscious uncoupling” in March 2014, finalizing the divorce in July 2016. The former couple maintains a strong co-parenting relationship for Apple and Moses. Gwyneth shared during a 2020 appearance on The Drew Barrymore Show, “Chris and I committed to putting them first and that’s harder than it looks because some days you really don’t want to be with the person that you are getting divorced from. But if you’re committed to having family dinner, then you do it. You take a deep breath, and you look the person in the eye, and you remember your pact, and you smile, and you hug, and you recommit to this new relationship that you are trying to foster.”
