Prime Minister Narendra Modi strongly condemned the Congress party’s shirtless protest at the India AI Impact Summit, accusing it of transforming a prestigious global event into a display of “dirty and naked politics.”
Modi’s Address in Meerut
Speaking at a public rally in Meerut, Uttar Pradesh, on Sunday, PM Modi highlighted India’s successful hosting of the world’s largest AI conference. Delegates from over 80 countries and heads of state from nearly 20 nations attended the event in Delhi.
“Were you proud of this AI conference? The entire country was filled with pride,” PM Modi said, addressing the crowd. “But what did the Congress do? It turned a global event for India into a platform for its dirty and naked politics. Congress leaders reached the venue naked in front of foreign guests. The country knows you are already naked, so why take off your clothes?”
PM Modi emphasized that the summit represented a national achievement, not a partisan event, with no BJP leaders present during the protest. He criticized the action for breaching decorum and undermining India’s technological showcase.
Details of the Protest
On February 20, members of the Indian Youth Congress conducted a shirtless demonstration at the AI Impact Summit 2026 venue, drawing widespread attention.
India’s Rising Global Stature
During his speech, PM Modi underscored India’s enhanced international standing. “Developed nations now seek trade agreements with India, recognizing its potential to address 21st-century challenges,” he stated. He contrasted this with past hurdles faced by previous governments due to corruption concerns.
PM Modi also praised the consistent support from farmers, textile workers, artisans, and traders in western Uttar Pradesh for development-focused initiatives, while criticizing opposition parties for divisive tactics.
Infrastructure Milestones
Earlier, PM Modi inaugurated the Meerut Metro and the Namo Bharat Train at Shatabdi Nagar Namo Bharat Station. He then rode the metro to Meerut South Station, where he engaged with students.
