Yukon RCMP are advising drivers to significantly reduce speeds or avoid travel south of Whitehorse due to rapidly worsening road conditions from a heavy snowstorm.
Officers responded to a collision at Army Beach Drive and the Alaska Highway intersection. No further details on the crash or potential injuries have been released.
While heading to the scene along the Alaska Highway, police spotted multiple vehicles that had gone off the road.
Snow continued falling throughout the morning in and around Whitehorse, the Yukon capital.
Safety Advice for Drivers
RCMP emphasize that motorists must travel should “reduce their speed considerably, drive to conditions, and allow extra time to reach their destinations.”
Officials further recommend postponing non-essential trips: “If travel can be postponed, police recommend delaying your trip until conditions improve.”

511 Yukon indicates expected delays near kilometre 1380 on the Alaska Highway at the crash location. Rough conditions also affect the South Klondike Highway near the Alaska Highway cutoff.
Environment Canada forecasts ongoing snow through Wednesday.
