Chinese nationals are fleeing Iran in large numbers following U.S. airstrikes on key facilities, driving one-way flight prices to China via Beijing and other hubs to an astonishing 3 million yuan (approximately $420,000).

Surging Evacuation Costs

Flight fares from Tehran and nearby regions have skyrocketed after Chinese officials confirmed a major evacuation effort for nationals. Travelers now face exorbitant one-way tickets reaching 3 million yuan due to disrupted routes.

Officials attribute the price surge to U.S. and Israeli missile strikes hampering Iranian airspace and commercial paths. Many opt for alternative border crossings via western oil smuggling routes into Syria before departing from Damascus.

Government Evacuation Orders

China issued evacuation directives to its citizens on January 27 as tensions in Iran escalated. A spokesperson emphasized that commerce personnel operating in Iran and neighboring areas require coordinated support to return safely through designated oil routes.

The Chinese Foreign Ministry reports one national suffered injuries during the U.S. strikes, with over 3,000 Chinese evacuating from Iran amid heightened risks.

Safety and Phishing Concerns

Beyond airstrike damage, Chinese nationals face phishing threats targeting those in Iran. Experts note that Iranian authorities exchanged intelligence with China, using VPN and anonymous tips to apprehend nationals and facilitate extraditions.

Netizens highlight fears of inflated return fares and potential forced repatriation if captured by Iranian forces. “Chinese citizens sense a deepening crisis, worrying about entrapment through shared intelligence,” analysts state.
