KIIS FM’s popular breakfast show hosted by Kyle Sandilands and Jackie ‘O’ Henderson faces an uncertain future following a heated on-air dispute that led to major network decisions.

Contract Termination and Suspension

ARN, the parent company of KIIS FM, terminates Jackie O’ Henderson’s $100 million contract after she informs executives that she can no longer work with Kyle Sandilands. Sandilands receives a suspension and skips Wednesday’s episode, remaining off-air for up to 14 days while ARN reviews his response to an alleged contract breach.

ARN issues written notice to Sandilands, citing his behavior during the February 20 broadcast as serious misconduct that violates the services agreement with Quasar Media. He has 14 days to address the issue, or risk termination.

The breakfast show goes off-air immediately, with interim arrangements in place.

Timeline of the Feud

Henderson, 51, stays away from the show since the February 20 clash, where Sandilands, 54, criticizes her focus amid a discussion on astrology. She breaks down in tears, defending herself as he calls out her interests as distractions from work.

Sandilands expresses regret last Wednesday, stating, “I obviously upset her. Maybe, in hindsight, I shouldn’t have said it on the air. But we say a lot of things on the air here.” He adds, “It was never meant to hurt her feelings and obviously it did. I regret hurting her feelings. No one wants to hurt someone. Especially someone you care for.”

He emphasizes leaving the matter to management and expresses a desire for Henderson’s happiness on air.

Recent Absences and Denials

Henderson’s planned return on March 2 delays by another week, as Sandilands announces on Monday. He addresses rumors of the show’s end during his own absence last Thursday, attributing it to caring for his unwell three-year-old son Otto.

“I haven’t vanished, everyone,” Sandilands says. “According to the newspapers, The Kyle & Jackie O show was over, and I vanished. It just goes to show you can never believe what you read in any of the newspapers.” He describes a tough night with the baby’s cough leading to broken sleep and a headache.

Contract Background

Sandilands and Henderson sign a 10-year, $200 million deal with ARN in 2023, with eight years remaining. The agreement yields about $47,000 per episode for the top-rating program.
