Congress MP Priyanka Gandhi Vadra accuses the central government of launching personal attacks on Lok Sabha Leader of Opposition Rahul Gandhi out of fear of the truth he speaks. She highlights a deepening crisis, including commercial LPG cylinder shortages and concessions in the US trade deal.

Response to Government Criticism

Speaking to reporters outside Parliament, Priyanka Gandhi Vadra addresses the ongoing political tensions. She criticizes the government’s approach to the LPG shortage, warning that the crisis worsens due to the US trade deal and global conflicts.

“The crisis is deepening and it will deepen. The manner in which our government has bent before the US in the trade deal, the crisis will deepen. A war is also going on. So, this will deepen,” she states.

Clarifying Laughter in Parliamentary Debate

Priyanka Gandhi Vadra explains her laughter during a recent debate, following Union Parliamentary Affairs Minister Kiren Rijiju’s remarks. She argues that the government targets her brother because he fearlessly raises public issues.

“All these things are said because my brother speaks the truth. In this entire country, he is the only person who hasn’t bowed before them. They have tried everything – spent massive amounts of money, launched social media campaigns, and media campaigns against him – but nothing has worked,” she says.

“I was laughing because you are afraid of him. You cannot digest the truth he speaks, which is why you resort to personal attacks – even talking about his ‘short pyjamas.’ Answer the questions he is raising! You have no answers,” she adds.

Responding to Union Minister Giriraj Singh’s social media post on Rahul Gandhi’s ‘short pyjamas’ comment, she urges focus on citizen hardships caused by government policies.

Parliament Functioning and Institutional Concerns

Priyanka Gandhi Vadra faults recent Parliament sessions for avoiding key issues like rising inflation, unemployment, and economic policies favoring certain business groups.

“I have observed in the last two or three sessions in this Parliament that there is no real discussion on actual issues. We spent plenty of time discussing ‘Vande Mataram’ and criticising Nehru ji and Indira ji, but we haven’t had a single real discussion on why inflation is rising, why there is unemployment, or why the country is being served to America and Adani-Ambani on a platter,” she remarks.

She accuses the government of pressuring the Speaker and eroding institutional independence, emphasizing efforts to protect democracy.

Invoking her grandmother, former Prime Minister Indira Gandhi, she notes that truth prevails: “Language is one thing, but depth is another. When someone speaks the truth repeatedly, it eventually reaches the people… The people of this country recognise the truth. It may take time, but they see it.”

Rijiju’s Lok Sabha Remarks

Earlier in Lok Sabha, Kiren Rijiju criticizes Rahul Gandhi’s conduct, describing unprecedented behavior like rushing to hug the Prime Minister, winking at colleagues, and addressing the Speaker informally. He suggests Priyanka Gandhi Vadra might perform better as Leader of Opposition.

“If you had made her the Leader of the Opposition, perhaps the performance would have been a bit better. At least she sits and listens. Their Leader of Opposition doesn’t listen at all. She smiles as well,” Rijiju states.

Government Measures on LPG Supply

The government activates the Essential Commodities Act to address LPG supply issues, prioritizing distribution amid global fuel pressures from the West Asia conflict.
