An Italian restaurant on a picturesque, tree-lined street in Dallas’ Uptown neighborhood has shuttered permanently after operating for two and a half years.
Restaurant Background
San Marzano launched in September 2024, offering house-made pastas at wallet-friendly prices. Co-owner Dave Malekan emphasized its approachable vibe, stating, “This is meant to be the kind of restaurant where you leave happy and comfortable and don’t feel like you got punched in the face from prices.”
Price Adjustments and Industry Trends
Over the ensuing two years, many menu items saw price hikes of around $3, mirroring a nationwide trend among restaurants grappling with escalating food and rent expenses.
Closure Announcement
The restaurant shared its closure news via an Instagram post on March 6, expressing gratitude: “We’re grateful to our customers and staff for all their support.” No specific reason for the shutdown was provided.
San Marzano operated at 3700 McKinney Ave. #148 in Dallas and ceased operations on March 6, 2026.
