At least four people, including two children, sustained injuries in Pakistan following drone incursions launched from Afghanistan. Pakistan’s Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) confirmed the incident on Saturday, characterizing the drones as rudimentary.

Drone Interceptions Near Key Locations

Pakistani security forces intercepted two drones on Friday evening at sites near Rawalpindi. The military employed electronic countermeasures to neutralize them effectively. ISPR reported that the drones were downed through a combination of soft and hard kill methods, preventing them from reaching their targets.

Injuries Reported Across Regions

The casualties include two children injured in Quetta, one civilian in Kohat, and another individual in Rawalpindi, according to ISPR details.

ISPR Statement on Motives and Resolve

Authorities described the attacks as attempts to instill fear among the public and highlight the terrorist mindset driving the Afghan Taliban. “These attacks were aimed at inducing fear in the public and reminding us of the terrorist mindset which drives the Afghan Taliban,” ISPR stated.

The military accused the Afghan Taliban of projecting victimhood for global sympathy while targeting civilians through proxies and drones. “Pakistan’s people and its Armed Forces are absolutely clear about the true nature and intentions of the terrorist militia-for-hire that rules Afghanistan,” the statement added.

ISPR affirmed that Operation Ghazab lil-Haq will persist until the Afghan Taliban addresses Pakistan’s concerns over terrorism originating from Afghan soil. “Pakistan’s Armed Forces stand steadfast in the fight against terrorism and its manifestations, like the drone attacks by the Afghan Taliban,” it concluded.

Context of Rising Tensions

The drone activity occurred shortly after Pakistan carried out a strike on Kabul, amid escalating tensions between the neighbors following a failed ceasefire.
