Carrick Holds Back on Mount’s Starting Role
The interim manager emphasizes a careful approach to reintegrating Mason Mount into the starting lineup. The 27-year-old recently returned to the matchday squad against Villa but has not played since Carrick took charge two months ago.
“Starting would be too much, I think, at this point, [for Mason],” Carrick stated. “Just for the training time and the exposure he’s had, really. But it’s brilliant to have him back. He’s a fantastic player, Mason, and great to have around the group again. So [I’m] delighted to have him back and, obviously, the break coming up now gives him a chance to get even more up to speed. So, in some ways, that’s come at a good time for him.”
Sancho Draws Interest from Former Club Dortmund
Jadon Sancho, currently on loan at Aston Villa from Manchester United, has impressed Borussia Dortmund. The 25-year-old winger has managed one goal in 29 appearances across all competitions this season.
Dortmund hopes to secure Sancho for a third spell when his United contract expires this summer. Previously acquired by United for £73 million in 2021, Sancho struggled during his time at Old Trafford. He returned briefly to Dortmund in 2024 after a season at Chelsea and joined Villa on a late transfer, featuring in 18 league games this campaign.
