Bengaluru experiences major traffic disruptions today, March 20, as thousands gather for Ramadan prayers at prominent venues across the city. City police enforce temporary restrictions and diversions around key areas to maintain smooth flow and ensure safety amid large crowds.
Restrictions on Mysore Road
Authorities anticipate 15,000 to 20,000 attendees at BB Junction Mosque on Mysore Road and the BBMP playground in Chamarajpet. To handle the influx, police ban all vehicles on Mysore Road from 8 a.m. until prayers end. The closure spans from Mysore Road Toll Gate Junction to Town Hall via BB Junction and the BGS Flyover.
Key Diversions Implemented
Travelers from Town Hall toward Mysore cannot use the BGS Flyover, BB Junction, or Toll Gate Junction. Those heading from Mysore to Town Hall turn left at Kimmo Junction, follow West of Chord Road, turn right at Toll Gate, proceed along Magadi Road, turn right at Hunasemara Junction, and take a left near Sirsi Circle to reach Town Hall.
Separate Paths for Heavy and Light Vehicles
Police designate distinct routes from Town Hall to Mysore for better flow. All vehicles use the service road under the BGS Flyover. Heavy vehicles turn right at Veterinary Junction and continue on Goods Shed Road. Light vehicles turn right at Sirsi Junction, navigate JJ Nagar-Tank Bund Road-Binnimill Junction-Hunase Mara-Magadi Road, turn left at Toll Gate, and proceed via West of Chord Road toward Mysore.
Commuters from Basavanagudi and Chamarajpet heading to Majestic bypass congestion by taking Chamarajpet 1st Main Road and 5th Cross Road to Mysore Road, then Veterinary Junction and Goods Shed Road.
Commuter Advisory
Residents should plan routes ahead, allocate extra travel time, and heed police instructions to minimize delays during these restrictions.
