LG Display has initiated mass production of a revolutionary notebook LCD panel that dynamically adjusts its refresh rate according to the user’s task, marking the world’s first such achievement.
Dynamic Refresh Rate Adjustment
The panel intelligently shifts refresh rates: it drops to a power-saving 1Hz for static screens like emails and documents, minimizing power draw on semi-static content that demands less frequent updates. For dynamic activities such as mouse movement, video playback, or gaming, it ramps up to a maximum of 120Hz to ensure fluid visuals and precise responsiveness.
Advanced Technology Behind the Innovation
Responding to demands for task-specific refresh rates, LG Display developed this LCD monitor using oxide thin-film transistor (TFT) backplanes. The company implemented an ‘oxide 1Hz’ function, alongside optimized algorithms, refined panel designs, and advanced signal materials to enable seamless transitions.
