A promising 19-year-old flyweight boxer has made a remarkable recovery, awakening from a medically induced coma and breathing independently just days after a devastating knockout in the ring.

The Intense Bout

Isis Sio faced off against undefeated 21-year-old Jocelyn Camarillo in the opening match of ProBoxTV’s event at the National Orange Show Event Center. Just over a minute into the first round, Camarillo landed a flurry of powerful head shots, sending Sio crashing to the canvas unconscious.

Referees halted the fight immediately as Sio convulsed on the mat. Medical personnel stretchered her out of the arena and rushed her to Loma Linda University Health Medical Center, where doctors placed her in a medically induced coma for treatment.

Positive Medical Update

A statement from the boxing promotion delivered encouraging news: “Isis is no longer in a medically induced coma, has been taken off the ventilator, and is now breathing on her own.” The team awaits further details from her medical staff.

Fighters’ Records and Reactions

This marks Sio’s second straight knockout loss in her short professional career, which began in September with a 1-3 record. Her previous defeat came in January via body shots.

Camarillo, now 6-0, secured her first professional knockout in the win. She shared her relief on Instagram, posting, “Thank you, Jesus.”
