Doosan Bears outfielder Choi Kang-hwi took on intense manual labor at a major brand’s primary logistics center, handling everything from unloading to sorting shipments.
Grueling Hands-On Experience
In a recent YouTube episode of his channel ‘I Am Also Choi Kang-hwi,’ the star player immersed himself in the demanding world of warehouse operations. Even the team captain would struggle with the physical toll, he noted, emphasizing the relentless pace of the work.
The center, which operates nationwide with its own branded stores, sees constant activity. Choi experienced packaging fan merchandise firsthand before diving into order fulfillment. Tasked with retrieving three 270mm long shoe boxes, he initially misinterpreted the instruction as 270 individual pairs, showcasing the precision required.
Navigating Heavy Loads and Teamwork
Choi assisted in positioning heavy, hazardous items within the warehouse. When a worker remarked on the exhaustion of any role—’No matter the position, it’s tough; go grab some water’—the employee added they had endured a full year on the job.
Choi responded, ‘One shift? If you handle it for 1-2 weeks straight, you’d face two rounds of heavy hazardous duties?’ The worker replied, ‘I could manage two weeks.’ Choi concluded, ‘Some items are impossible to locate without experience. Lasting two weeks demands real motivation.’
Finding Deeper Satisfaction
Reflecting on the challenge, Choi shared his motivation: ‘Fan autograph sessions at the ballpark fill me with confidence, but rolling up sleeves here for genuine hard work feels even more rewarding. It’s sweeter than any TV appearance and fuels my drive like a tiger.’
Through these YouTube challenges, including an all-day stint sorting products, Choi gains direct insight into everyday laborers’ efforts, sparking widespread buzz among fans.
